If the ck100 haven't been used in a while—are tokens time-limited or expired?

If the CK100 has been sitting unused for a long time, the tokens would not normally expire just from age. If the tool is out of tokens or not working, it is more likely due to tokens already being consumed or a hardware/chip issue, not because the tokens timed out. That last point is an inference based on how the token system is described.
