A standard cut key is a traditional key that has cuts made along the outer edge of the blade. This is the most common type of key used for many house locks, padlocks, office doors, and some older vehicle applications.
When customers ask what a standard cut key is, it usually means a basic edge-cut key that can be duplicated on a regular key cutting machine. Unlike laser cut keys, standard cut keys are thinner and simpler in design, and they do not have the milled center groove found on sidewinder-style keys.
