Not all keys can be duplicated. Many standard house, office, and padlock keys can be copied easily if the correct key blank is available, but some keys have restrictions that make duplication more difficult.
High-security keys, restricted keys, and certain automotive keys may require special equipment, authorization, or programming. In some cases, a locksmith may need proof of ownership or access to an authorized dealer system before making a copy. So while many keys can be duplicated, not every key can be copied the same way.
Additional Info:
The best answer is that standard keys usually can, but restricted and transponder-based keys often have extra requirements.
