I wasn't sure about getting this type of mat but I'm glad that I did. Although I also use a small wooden pinning block, I find that when pinning multiple cylinders, the large spaces are great for organizing everything. I put a bunch of pins in the proper spaces to speed up the pinning process. The material has a "grip" on the backside that keeps it in place.
