The good news and the bad news

The ignition lock cylinder on my 24-year old truck was worn out and this replacement from UHS Hardware was a perfect fit and identical in quality to the part available from Toyota at a fraction of the dealer price. Installation was easy (just find a You Tube video). Before installation, I assumed that a locksmith would be able to re-key the cylinder but, unfortunately, Toyota does not make the parts available to anyone outside the company, so no luck. I saved a bunch of money, but now I have to carry two keys, one for the door locks, one for the ignition.
